We consider asupply chain model with one supplier and one retailer who acts as a newsvendor.The first model in this dissertation focuses on the supplier and the retailer's optimal policies in a multi-period newsvendor model. We derive the optimal pricing and ordering policies for demand with Increasing Generalized FailureRate (IGFR) property and obtain comparative statics for the optimal prices.

We also analyze the risk-return trade-off in single-period newsvendor models using the mean-variance approach. We derive the risk-return curve for the retailer and the corresponding distribution in closed-form for a two-point distribution and a three-point distribution in the classic model. An approximation algorithm is introduced to efficiently calculate the risk-return curve in the continuous distribution models.

主講人介紹:

陳曉

任Universityof New Hampshire大學(xué)Peter Paul商學(xué)院決策科學(xué)系助理教授。陳曉于2012年畢業(yè)于天津大學(xué)管理與經(jīng)濟學(xué)部物流工程專業(yè)，獲得工程學(xué)士學(xué)位，后于美國明尼蘇達大學(xué)工業(yè)工程系就讀，2018年獲得博士學(xué)位。她的主要研究方向是收益管理(revenuemanagement)，定價策略(pricing policy)，與供應(yīng)鏈協(xié)調(diào)(supply chain coordination)問題。其研究工作發(fā)表在EuropeanJournal of Operational Research和Operations ResearchLetters。陳曉任AMA Global Marketing SIG會議審稿人，及International Journal of Operations Research and Information Systems等學(xué)術(shù)期刊審稿人。
