嘉賓簡介

James L. Perry是著名公共行政學(xué)家，美國印第安納大學(xué)杰出的特聘教授，曾擔(dān)任美國公共行政學(xué)會(huì)重要職務(wù)，曾任Public Administration Review（該刊物是美國國家公共行政學(xué)會(huì)的會(huì)刊，是公共行政領(lǐng)域最高期刊之一）主編，現(xiàn)任Asia Pacific Journal of Public Administration聯(lián)合主編。曾獲Dwight Waldo Award (2008) 、George Frederickson Award for Career Contributions to the Field of Public Management (2015) 、John Gaus Award (2017)、The Routledge Prize for Lifetime Achievement(2018)等具有重要影響力的獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)。Perry出版了三部著作，包括Handbook of Public Administration、Public Service and Good Governance for the Twenty-first Century和Managing Organizations to Sustain Passion for Public Service。主要研究領(lǐng)域?yàn)楣补芾?、公?wù)員改革、國家與社區(qū)服務(wù)等。作為公共行政領(lǐng)域的著名學(xué)者，他引領(lǐng)了全球公共服務(wù)動(dòng)機(jī)和公共績效薪酬的研究。

講座概要

Public administration is both an evolving field and a field prone to dwell on fads that distract scholars from pursuing substantive intellectual progress. The presentation assesses ways for scholars to navigate these competing and potentially conflicting tendencies affecting progress in the field. I identify some cutting-edge topics for research. More importantly, I discuss five questions that are helpful for aspiring scholars and researchers to think about making their research more influential and navigating challenges of publishing in international journals. I conclude by talking about opportunities for contributing to the Asia Pacific Journal of Public Administration (APJPA), a journal for which I am co-editor.
